Styling a Coffee Table with Chairish

When it comes to styling my home, I tend to be a bit of a minimalist- in both color (neutral always wins it for me) and accessories. And when I do buy trinkets and decor, it has to be something I really love to look at. But I do love putting together areas of my living space that pop a little more, and give the entire room a nice balance of visual interest. One of the places I love to do this is with a coffee table, so when Chairish approached me about my take on styling one of their gorgeous vintage coffee tables, I was all in.

Chairish is an online resource, and basically a design lovers solution to buying and selling vintage furniture across the country. The company features beautifully curated pieces, and includes everything from art to decor to rugs and lighting too. I was asked to share my tips on styling, using one of the gorgeous vintage coffee tables available in their shop right now. My heart jumped a little when I saw this four drawer black lacquer lovely, and it was so fun to put together a collection of accessories and must-haves that would make this gem shine.

I started with the necessities: the items that would ground the entire look, while also keeping everything together. This white hexagon tray is dainty and functional, and I thought it provided a nice juxtaposition to the masculine lines of the table.

My next go-to is books. I love switching out really great coffee table books periodically because they are constant conversation starters, and tend to be lovely to look at too. I have both of these books- Erin Gates’ Elements of Style and Coco Chanel by Lisa Chaney- and both of their black and white covers are the perfect amount of neutral yet stylish for this table. I also love mixing in other trade style books, whether they be for entertaining or even just photo books. My biggest requirement for a really great coffee table design is that it’s both functional and beautiful.

From there I will always have a candle and flowers. I love finding soft, floral scents that aren’t too strong for the room, and it’s always a bonus for pretty containers too. This Cucumber Pop candle would be a great way for a subtle addition of color in the mix, and I love how the rim is in gold, pulling it together with the neutrals too.

Finally, we can’t forget ‘les objets’- the accessories that really speak to your personality and finish off the entire look. I loved this lacquer box (perfect for the functional purpose of concealing anything from remotes to the small items that have no place to go) and this vintage brass wishbone for style and luck.

It was so fun to find pieces to style this beautiful table; Be sure to check out their entire collection of coffee tables here.

So excited to have been featured on Inspired Designer today....Kristin is one of my dear friends and she holds a regular interview series on her blog each Thursday, so I was over the moon when she asked if I would be a part of it. After reading the entire interview, I have to say thank you to Kristin for the kind words! After all, Kristin is someone that has achieved so much in her craft and is someone I really hold with high regard. And in other news, can't believe we met 15 years ago... This makes me feel old! Take a peek at the full feature here, and have a lovely Thursday!

Baby H's Nursery on La Petite Peach!

First, how cute is the blog La Petite Peach? Second, how happy am I to see this little guy (and even a snapshot or two of big brother K) featured on it? I talked about his nursery inspiration and gushed a little after Ampersand Studios photographed it just five days after baby H was born, but seriously his nursery was hands down my favorite project of 2013. I wanted his room to be somewhere I loved being too! Be sure to head over to La Petite Peach to see the full feature

Featured | Caitlin + Monty's McCall Soiree

Happy Monday! We woke up with news in our inbox- Caitlin and Monty's southern September affair is featured on Style Me Pretty today! We have been (im)patiently sitting on all of the pretty photos from Two Bird Studio for months so we are so thrilled to finally reveal them. But first, a little background on this wedding. Caitlin and Monty spent much of their relationship long distance, including while planning their wedding; Caitlin was in New York for most of it, working with her Regas team, and Monty in Texas. McCall was a favorite family spot from Caitlin's childhood so they chose the lakeside destination locale to bring their family and friends from all over to one lovely place. I remember receiving the initial email from Caitlin- she was spunky and so excited to put tons of thought and detail into the weekend, and she's a letterpress designer, so basically we hit it off from the start.

Three locations within McCall- The Old Finn Church, Roseberry Barn, and Shore Lodge- and three design concepts layered to build upon each other-provided such an awesome experience for the guests; a historic quaint chapel to start, rustic barn complete with a lively folk band and spanning mountain views, and a rockin band, great food and gorgeous lake setting to end the night. In short it was an amazing event that had the entire Soiree team involved and we loved every second of it. Here are a few photos to whet your whistle, but do take a peek at the full feature on Style Me Pretty today!

Today we are excited to be back on the blog to share a little feature happening over at A Paper Proposal Blog. Press | Emily And Zach's Shore Lodge Wedding

We can hardly believe it- two features in one week, on one amazing wedding blog! Today we are so thrilled to have Emily and Zach's elegant navy, white, and yellow affair featured on Elizabeth Anne Designs blog. This June wedding weekend was one of our biggest this summer, with a welcome dinner out at Whitetail Fish and Swim Club, the ceremony and reception at Shore Lodge, and a wedding brunch in the Narrows to bid farewell to the weekend's festivities. This was also our first Jewish wedding, and we loved it. These people know how to have a good time and we were happy to be a part of it. To Emily, Zach, and family: thanks again for allowing us to be a part of such a memorable occasion...it really is one that will go down in history as one of our all time favorites.

As you head into your weekend, don't forget to take a peek at the full feature to see all of the photos from Ampersand Studios; it really was a classically elegant wedding.

Happy weekend!

Happy Tuesday Lovelies,

We were thrilled to hear from Tana that Andrea and Jess' June wedding was being featured over at Elizabeth Anne Designs today- this was definitely an English Garden affair through and through. From the soft colors of pinks, peaches, and ivories to the eclectic pottery pitchers and pink mason glass, this wedding was a breath of fresh air in the middle of summer. And can we talk a minute about Andrea...how lovely was she on her wedding day? Jess was pretty strapping himself, too. Do take a peek at the whole spread when you have a minute!

Picture this: The whole team heads to the bridal show a couple of weekends ago to do our yearly walk-thru and catchup with vendors we haven't seen in a while, when we stumble across our friends at the Shore Lodge weddings booth and catch a glimpse of this:

We were thrilled to see our work from this past summer featured in the 2013 Shore Lodge marketing brochure (all photos by the lovely Tana Photography). We immediately grabbed several and tried hard not to look like giddy school girls (I'm not sure if we were successful)....

Stay tuned for our weekly 2012 weddings round up series this week and in the coming weeks as we'll be featuring much of what you see here!

Have a happy Tuesday!

Weekend Notes + December In Photos

It's Friday! Has anyone else felt like this first full week of work has been tough to get through? With all of the new resolutions in full force, it can add just that much more to a day making it feel extra full. This weekend I'm looking forward to finally starting on the boys' rooms- my type A self has literally broken the two somewhat overwhelming projects into mini tasks per weekend left until Baby H makes his appearance. We are giving big boy Kaden his big kid room (complete with loft bed, new, bright bedding, and his current crush- all things automotive and siren related), while Baby H will be receiving a serene and soft room with modern touches and a pop of color here and there. I've got inspiration boards for both rooms and will be posting them here soon so stay tuned! What are your big weekend plans? If you're in Boise you may be playing in the snow (I'm sure we'll have some of that thrown in with the projects too)!

Our December flew by (which is why this photo post is coming a little late), but was filled with so many good things. Some of our favorites below...

One of our biggest projects last month was a new year's eve party we had the honor of helping with up at Whitetail Club in McCall- here's just a little snippet of the goodness there:

The entire Soiree team had a rare moment together at the Idaho Event Professionals holiday party:

And we were delighted with newlywed Christmas cards:

And here are some links you may have missed over the past week on the blog and on Facebook:

I rolled out my 2013 intentions....

....And we started our Best Of 2012 weddings round up series.

I joined a book club....

....And have been loving this cleanse to start the new year off right.

And finally, our fall style shoot was featured over at Style Me Pretty last week- be sure to take a peek at the inspiration for the shoot too.

Happy New Year! We're back after a busy holiday season, and thrilled to start the year off with a feature on Style Me Pretty. We produced this photo shoot back in October, but the colors carry through from fall to winter easily, and feature my new favorite winter item too: the pheasant feather. This shoot was a little more out of the box for us- we not only worked with our good friend Tana Photography, but also our old friend Daniel Rosenthal from Yellowline Photography. We managed to mesh a gorgeous tablescape in with a full on fashion shoot, complete with couture attire including Badgley Mischka shoes that we all cooed over.

Here's just a snippet, but be sure to take a peek at the full feature over at Style Me Pretty, including the explanation and behind-the-scenes ideas for creation and our intent for brides...we think it, well, explains it pretty well. Hope you had a lovely holiday season, and we're happy to be back here with you!

Happy Thursday!

Press | Marisa and Steve's Garden Inspired Shore Lodge Wedding

We're over the moon to be able to show you this- we found out that Marisa and Steve's Shore Lodge wedding was featured over at Inspired By This, the blog and brainchild of Wedding PR maven Leila Khalil.

This wedding has such a special place in our hearts- especially when we planned and designed it in 2 months flat, start to finish. When Marisa and Steve met with me for the first time, the date was the only thing set in stone- everything else had to be put into overdrive, especially the letterpress invitations which had to be designed, stuffed, and mailed within a matter of weeks of meeting the couple. Good thing me and Marisa basically became best friends- we poured over colors, theme, and personal additions to come up with a delightfully colorful wedding- which went well with the snow in the mountains. And speaking of theme- the subtle garden theme just kind of came to be...Marisa and Steve mentioned they enjoyed gardening and one thing led to another with details like garden markers as escort cards, and wildflower seeds as parting gifts. Without further adieu, the rest of the photos from the day, and don't forget to head over to Inspired By This to see even more photos there.
