Ringing In The New Year

We're busy gearing up this week for our New Years Eve wedding. And a wedding it will be. Stay tuned tomorrow for a sneak peek of all the glamor to come. In the meantime, all this sparkling has us thinking not only about the bubbly but also about what we're going to wear. What can we say, we like to look good and represent Soiree well. We also can't wait to see what all the guests will be wearing. Maybe we'll see a shining cocktail ensemble like this one...

Or maybe we'll see this fabulous color scheme of greens, teals, and gold...

What are you planning to wear to your New Years Eve bash??

Holiday Pomegranate Champagne

In need of an easy impressive cocktail for upcoming holiday cheer? Try this updated version of the bubbly for a slightly sweet and festively colored clink!

 Pomegranate Cocktail Recipe

1 oz Pomegranate juice or liqueur (I prefer the latter)*
3-4 oz Champagne (I prefer a sweeter version, although a brut works well too)

* Some recipes also call for Cassis- in this version reduce pomegranate juice to 1/2 tsp & add in 1 tsp cassis.
**Pomegranate liqueur is also known as Pomegranate Schnapps

And that's it! Easy and it makes you look like a Holiday Hostess Extraordinaire

Intern Fancy | Snowy Winter Weddings

There's nothing wrong with being an ice princess...when you're describing your wedding, that is. Snowy whites, pale crystal blue, and lots of warmth make this a celebration to remember. This week Samantha is inspired by snow flakes and crystal...

Intern Fancy | Rustic Chic

Rustic but elegant, sophisticated and reserved, and with just the right amount of personality. The bride wears lace, or maybe even a satin sheath. The food is comforting and the friends are plenty. We love the idea of a rustic chic wedding.

Anne & Paul's Boise Wedding Featured On With This Ring

We are ecstatic to finally be able to bring you this post....Today one of our late fall weddings is featured over at Chicago-based wedding blog With This Ring! Additional images are also featured on the Tana Photography blog today as well. Anne and Paul's October wedding was one of the most personalized, thought-out, and emotional weddings we've had to date. I was sad when it was over; Anne was a true friend and I just loved her and her groom to pieces.

A little about the wedding:

First, Paul is a pilot in the Airforce. Not just any pilot, mind you. A C4 Pilot. Rockstar status, pretty much. So we knew planes, in whatever form possible, would be included in the wedding. Second detail- the couple met in school, while reading Sophie's World, so that book, plus books in many forms were another key appearance. Finally, in the 10 months we worked together, the wedding venue had to be changed three times. So our design plan had to change a little with each venue, with our last venue being the largest and most expansive space. No matter what we wanted to keep an element of comfort to the event all while making it the most memorable wedding any guest had been to, naturally.

And some of our favorite details from the reception at Silverstone Amenity Center:

The tables alternated between burlap linens and ivory linens with lace overlays.

The paper airplane escort cards and the place cards...the bride hand-sewed each one and wrote a thank-you note for each of her guests.

Centerpieces were pillar candles wrapped in vintage lace provided by the bride's mother, burlap, and twine, surrounded by moss, orchids and goose feathers...

...And distressed planter boxes filled with an assortment of flowers and feathers.

All in all, it was a beautiful wedding and so much fun to be a part of. Don't forget to stop by With This Ring and also Tana Photography to view additional images from the wedding!

Just In Time For Holiday Parties....

I found this post over at Once Wed. Immediately fell in love with the makeup on this girl; how lovely is this look, and especially that shade of lipstick? Not only a beautiful bridal makeup look, but would also be a stunning look for a holiday party. Even though these Saja Wedding Dress campaign photos are more spring-oriented, the fresh, dewy (and uh, plump lips) approach would still be a knock out in the winter.

Photobucket

And while we're on New York designer Saja, we were thrilled to read that none of the collection is over $1200. So do swing by Once Wed to see more of these photos, plus learn a little more here, here, and here!

Gift Guides 2010: The Modern Romantic

We just love gift guides. In an already hectic season, it's just nice when someone else hunts down all the amazing finds for you. So we're jumping on the guide wagon and presenting a series of gift guides based on style and personality. First up, it's all about the girl that loves a floral flair, soft fabrics, and maybe even some ruffles. She's feminine but we wouldn't call her fluffy- she's much too contemporary for that.

Photobucket

This ZigZag Zipper Clutch from JCrew is fashion forward and the perfect size. The Modern Romantic girl likely has many a bauble in her collection; give her a place to organize and display them all, like this Pottery Barn Antique Jewelry Box. Speaking of jewelry, why not add to her collection, starting with this tres-stylish pearl cuff from Anthropologie. Winter is here and we all need to keep warm, the Modern Romantic girl always loves a little floral, like this rosette scarf. Holiday parties and luncheons call for well-manicured nails; this Sephora by o.p.i bridal collection nail polish adds just a hint of color. We especially love this shade, called "Dear Diary". Finally a polished gal needs a stylish way to capture all the fine moments in life. We love this fisheye camera in a sparkly white (via DesignSponge)!

Stop back by on Thursday for another gift guide. Happy planning!

Intern Fancy | Pink, Navy, Ivory

Welcome to a new series on the Soiree Blog...our interns will be posting weekly inspiration boards on anything that they fancy at the time. Whether it be themes, color palettes, styles, or even fashion trends, I've given these girls the go-ahead to be inspired by anything and everything.

First up is from Samantha:

Photobucket

This blush pink, ivory, and navy color theme is vintage and beautiful. Soft and romantic, yet the navy adds just enough depth to the palette. I even thought this could be a lovely winter color combo; what do you think?

Inspiring Photo No. 9

With winter weddings around the corner, I thought this photo was fitting. I love using monochromatic color themes, especially in whites. Think champagne, ivory, white, and even blush.

Test tube vases with single ranunculous blooms in each are hung with clear fishing twine. Something so simple makes such an impact. Love.

The Best Gift Guides Of The Week

Christmas is coming, and the gift guides are posting around the blogosphere left and right. Here are my favorites so far:

For the newly engaged, bride, or bridal party gift ideas:

Photobucket

Liene's Gift Guide on Thinksplendid.com.  We all loved her unique gift ideas, and all from bridal industry companies.

For the newly married, currently nesting, or just someone in need of good ideas to spruce up their home:

Photobucket

Erin Gates' For The Home Guide and Under $50 Guide on Elements of Style.  Loved the practicality, great prices, and of course, awesome style too.

And finally, for the decorista in need of some new metallic sparkle to add to the home or table top, check out Amy Atlas' recent article on her top holiday picks on Stroller Traffic.

**********************************************************************************

Those were our collective favorites so far on gift-giving; and to leave you for the weekend, just in case you're in need of a new holiday party hairstyle, we loved this side chignon tutorial on This is Glamorous:

Aren't they unique and pretty? A little bit vintage too. We first read about JoJo products just due to weddings- pictures of bridesmaids wearing these necklaces as gifts from the bride were beautiful. These holiday editions would make great gifts for Christmas! Check out all of their collections (especially their swarovski earrings for less than $40) for more gift ideas online at their website, here.

Wedding Wednesday | Robyn And Jon's Muddy Engagement

We just love this couple! I'll say it again- just love this couple. We've been working with Robyn and Jon since this summer and are looking forward to their late June wedding. I actually have known Jon since he was a little guy- he's my best friend's little brother! So I was pretty excited to not only see him all grown up (I'm sure he appreciates me talking about him as if I'm his mother), but I'm also thrilled to be working with my friend's family.

Ok- back to the couple. Both Robyn and Jon are artistic people; he's a drama major and she's into photography. So when I heard about their engagement session with Ampersand Studios I knew it wouldn't be just an ordinary shoot. This goes to show getting dirty can be pretty...enjoy!
