This room is combining two amazingly different themes! In nature the lines are sinewy and have movement. On the other hand, when designing to create a modern feel, designers tend to use strait lines and more geometric figures and shapes. It's edgy and different yet tends to create a serene feel that I absolutely love! Notice how they pull the colors out of nature and use them to accent the room! And this cake! The general direction of the layers rise up in an angular line but the cake itself has amazing movement!

Every year I try to pick out 2-3 coordinating patterns or designs for gift wrap....there's just something about looking at your tree and seeing all of the gifts sitting so pretty together. Now that I have a kiddo, I also try to find a balance between my aesthetics and kid-friendly designs that appeal to little eyes too- so we've seen the likes of vintage santas and colorful reindeer- but I still try to take it up a notch with trimming and coordinating. By having everything coordinate, from the wrap to the ribbon, it all becomes a really beautiful statement piece in your home. Wedding Wednesday | Succulents

I've decided succulents are dreamy. Their colors are soft yet they make such a presence. Adding succulent plants to your centerpieces, bouquets, or using mini succulent heads as decor or even as a way to escort your guests to their tables (bonus: you can double these as their favors too) is a chic, eco-friendly idea that lends a slightly vintage look to things too.

If you're having a summer wedding, these little lovelies are perfect because they need lots of sun and even a person like me can't kill a succulent. They actually tell you to NOT water your plant too much. So after perusing all of these pictures the last couple of weeks, I'm also set to get my own plant or two for around the house.

Having succulents at your event also means they're super easy to do yourself (DIY). Even if you're not getting married, you can make simple, sweet centerpieces for your own home decor too. Check out this tutorial from the fabulous Ruffled Blog:

Plantable Wedding Favors

Party favors are always a nice touch, but unless they are meaningful and can actually be put to good use, favors are often the first to go at the sake of the budget. But when we can find good-for-the-earth, eco-friendly options to give your guests, it makes the gift that much sweeter.

Creating A DIY Herb Centerpiece

If you're looking for a simple, eco-friendly centerpiece idea for your wedding or bridal shower, look no further than your garden or window sill.

Now, I don't claim to have a green thumb by any means- in fact, only a select few plants and flowers are resilient enough to withstand life with me. But when it comes to these herb centerpiece ideas, anyone can do it!

Some other bonuses to creating herb centerpieces? You can enjoy them while you're growing your centerpiece! Plant your herbs in the spring (I just planted mine this last weekend) , and you'll be able to enjoy them all summer long with your meals. You can also try this idea- plant your herbs in a decorative planter and place on your deck, patio, or in your back yard. Not only do you have a unique garden to look at, you'll have herbs at your fingertips for summer meals to boot:





Basil is especially resilient and hardy, and is actually a great pick if you're having an outdoor wedding, as basil is a natural bug and fly deterrent (they don't like the odor)! Other varieties that would work well are mint, peppermint, and lavender, just to name a few.

Once you've grown the amount of herbs you need, cut and place them in vessels such as bud vases, paint cans with ribbon, or even mix them in with cut flowers for a gorgeous look.
